Here is a man who asks for very little, but gives everything of himself in humble service to every person he meets. Here is a man who is thoroughly well educated and learned, but always seeks to learn from others first.
Pope Francis visited the community of Varginha today, a poor neighborhood in Rio. Here he encourages young people in particular to defeat despair and corruption with hope, to fight evil with good.
Pope Francis visits the Saint Francis of Assisi Hospital which assists drug addicts and alcoholics and offers free medical care to the poor. "We must hold the hand of the one in need, of the one who has fallen into the darkness of dependency perhaps without even knowing how, and we must say to him or her: You can get up, you can stand up."
